Banshee, also called "the meerkat" is a very lively, energetic and intelligent dog, who learns very quickly. She's our guard dog - watching every movement behind the fence and barking at every possible intruder. She's always sitting at the best spot, from which she can see "her whole kingdom" very well. Her daughter Destiny is the main support of her "security team". When needed, the "security team" also supports the "vermin control team" - consisting of Ashley and Evie. Banshee is very patient with mice, which makes her very successful. She thinks most of them taste well and eats them, she would be probably able to survive in the free nature by herself.
Banshee can communicate very well and usually can calm down our other dogs. At home, she loves to cuddle and to sleep under the blanket. We also call her "mouse", because when tucked up, she takes almost no space. When she's not sleeping, she's usually sitting or laying on top of the sofa doing her guarding job.
Banshee is the only one of our dogs that can "speak" - she makes very articulate noises, but we could not decode the meaning yet.
Banshee is busy every day and runs many kilometers. In dog agility, we're running in SA2. She goes to run on a dog racing track occasionally and owns the racing license. She loves clicker training by shaping too. I am too worried for her safety and that's why I let her bark at the fox only behind the grid. But Banshee is very clever, moves in the den very quickly and barks determined at the fox.
Her major appearance virtue is small, flexible and very well spannable chest. Her body is very functional for both running and moving in tight spaces like the fox den. She is regulary placed well at working terriers shows by breed specialist judges.
In 2009, she had her only litter, so we got "the meerkat junior" Destiny. She's retired from breeding now.
